Aaromale

I am hooked on Aaromale from Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya.
Aaromale

The husband listens to that for the first time and tells me he has heard it before and plays this song from his CD collections.
Bad Company

Very similar huh! Even though I like Aaromale better. The start of this song does remind me of Wish you were here by Pink Floyd for my untrained ears!
Pink Floyd

Does anyone else hear the similarity? Or is it just us!!

Congrats Resul Pookutty and AR Rahman!

Man! How come I didn’t hear about Resul Pookutty until I saw the academy awards!! For a country who takes pride in Kalpana Chawla, Bobby Jindal and other People of Indian Origin, how come not much PR for Resul and AR Rahman for their Oscar Nominations!

Congrats Resul and Rahman for winning the Oscars!! Rahman takes 2 of the Oscars! Such a wonderful moment!! The proudest was when he said “எல்லா புகழும் இறைவனுக்கே” (All the praise goes to the God!)

Slumdog Millionaire

Have been planning to watch this movie for a month now. But somehow or the other kept postponing. Finally caught Slumdog Millionaire in the theatre yesterday! Glad I watched it in the theatre. Even after a month of the release, the theatre was half full. Impressive. The movie is very good and the music dramatic. Madhur Mittal as Salim is wonderful. The kids too have done a terrific job! Sad that Oscar doesn’t have a category for child artists! The casting is very impressive. Overall very well-made movie.

Edited to Add: ARR wins the golden globe award!! Cool!!

Music

Music has a beautiful way of changing my mood! I am sure it does the same to most people. I was listening to Tera Bina from Guru on the way to work yesterday and it just made my day! What a beautiful song! Hats off to Rahman. That made me appreciate how much the music directors and playback singers have enriched my life! I cannot sing even if my life depended on it. But I sure can enjoy them!
A couple of songs that I have never gotten tired of in the recent past
Tera Bina from Guru
Uruguthey from Veyil

Note to self: Should start playing more music at home!
