Harvested the first 4 cherries of the season while enjoying the solar eclipse. Usually our cherry tree produces only about 4 cherries. This year, the yield has been 5 fold i.e 20 cherries. Waiting for them to ripen. Maybe due to the little cherry tree we bought so that it has company. The rest of the cherries are still green or pink. So probably will harvest them in a couple of weeks if the squirrels and birds spare them.
Check out the cherries and the crescent shape shadows cast by the eclipsed sun!
Harvested these this evening! Now have to plan menu for the week! Finally the tomatoes are turning red!!
Coriander seeds, Greens(keerai), cucumber, okra(only 2), green beans. Will be converted into Keerai masiyal, Keera thandu vetha kuzhambu, Beans paruppu usili, Cucumber salad very soon!
Parents on their last visit, insisted we plant fruit trees and planted a few when they were here. Now we are enjoying the fruits of their labor!
p.s. People are trying to cast their evil eye, those were the only 4 cherries we got from the tree. Of the four, two of them were half eater by some critter.:-(
My first spring garden. Seeds planted, watered, cared and harvested by Chula and Meija of utbkids.
Verdict from little one: The peas are so sweet that I am going to eat them instead of candies from now onwards.
We also had some strawberries harvested, but before we could take a picture of those, they were gobbled up!
Spring is here! And it is beautiful as always!
A sample of 2010 harvest. We grew okra, brinjal(white, purple and deep purple), chilly, capsicum, keerai(Greens), avarai(flat bean), tomato(roma, cherry, pear, beefstake, earlygirl), basil, green onion, mint, green beans, cucumber, methi(fenugreek), peanut this year. Due to the non-existent summer, harvest was late. But late-a vandhalum latest-a vandhu irukku.
Here is a sample!
This is why! Flora from my garden! Can’t wait for the roses!
