This and That

Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya (விண்ணைதாண்டி வருவாயா)

When I wrote the post about VTV, I was very sure, I won’t see the movie in theatres. Mainly because Simbu is in there! Then saw the reviews and got curious! Revs who earlier said wouldn’t watch it because of Simbhu, started recommending it. The K.Balachander’s letter, that Boo forwarded, made me even more curious. To top it all Boo who earlier taunted me for even contemplating about seeing Simbhu in theatres, went ahead and saw the movie. After all this, I couldn’t wait. So ended up seeing the movie yesterday with husband.

Was prepared for a slow, same thing being repeated again and again, romantic movie after reading some reviews. But then, VTV blew me away. I did not find it slow in any place, I did not feel if anything was repeated even once, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie from beginning to end. I mean, I have to admit, for the first 15 minutes of the movie, I was trying to imagine someone else in the place of Simbhu, but couldn’t come up with one. No one in the Tamil movie industry could have fit this role as well as Simbhu had. Once I got over that first 15 minutes and the way Simbhu talks (still can’t stand it), loved the movie. The movie, as a whole was very good. Even the husband loved the movie and it is a big deal! Very realistic. Totally could identify with each one of the characters in the movie. Very believable. Would love to see it again with some of my friends, my sis who are spread all over the world right now! 🙂 And yeah, the climax is awesome. The way it is presented is also great! If it was any other way, I wouldn’t have liked the movie as much as I like now.

P.S 1: Never in my life, I would have believed if someone told me that I would watch a Simbhu movie and would want to see it again.
P.S 2: If could put my thoughts in writing as well as Boo, this is how it will be.

  2. Neengalum Simbu ku marittela??

YY: Wait! No No and No.. But he did do a good job in that movie. There is no 20 something right now in Tamil movie industry who could have acted as well as Simbu did.

  3. Someone is having fun with templates, I see. Eppo vandhu paathaalum, pudhusu pudhusa irukku. I’m going to keep an eye on this place and if I like any template, I’m going to copy it from you. I’m bored with my peacock.

YY: You see, the template I was using got messed up. Trying hard to find one that I like. So far, this is the one that has come close.

  4. This template is nice. but I miss the old one! 😦

Even I ve been thinking of another hero who could ve done the role but cant think of anyone. Bharath – No. Jeyam Ravi – No way! Sidharth – may be?

YY: Sidharth from boys(apparently there is one more not good looking sidharth) was the “may be” for me as well. But he has gotten older and also doesn’t do Tamil movies.

  5. You girls actually tempt me to go watch it.. I have to go pester the husband now.. (or wait for the universe to conspire and bring a friend, like what happened to Boo – I hate going to movies alone)

  6. Never liked Simbu myself, but have to agree with you on this one. He fitted the role to a T and I actually liked him in this movie, though he did spit his dialogues( in his usual ishtyle) every now and then.
