IPL Cricket – A Production, kind of like broadway

Thanks to my husband as I had mentioned in my earlier post, we have IPL Cricket subscribed in our home. It is not a sport I tell you. It is a major production.

  • Bollywood/Kollywood mascot/ambassadors for each team
  • Celebrities and big corporations owning the teams
  • Skimpily clad Redskins cheerleaders (They are fully clothed in matches held in Chennai.. Whatever!!)
  • Musicians like Hariharan, Shivmani performing for the audience
  • Bollywood music over the breaks
  • Bollywood actors doing stunts during the breaks
  • Strobe lights
  • Players from all over the world playing for Chennai, Mumbai, Jaipur, Hyderabad etc.
  • And oh yeah, I forgot,  20 overs of cricket

It is a production indeed! My belief that cricket matches are fixed is getting stronger by the day due to these productions!

But one thing, I have to agree is, some of the matches are thrilling and worth watching when comparted to the lousy movies that are shown in the TV.

Today’s Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth incident proved all my points true. It is a broaday production only!!

  1. It is an amazing event. Hats off to Lalit Modi to have thought of such an event! In my opinion this is going to improve domestic cricketers in India and will expose a lot of new talent.

The music, cheerleaders etc etc add spice to the event

Boo, upon your request, I had to add another post in my site. Hoping to be more active. let us see how I fare going forward!

  2. Ahhh! Simran accusing V.A.R, Harbajan slapping Sreeshanth. Man life in your den has got to be interesting. We have lost of drama, accusation, tears, peacetable, negotiations in our living room too! But I KNOW for a fact that they are not staged 🙂

  4. Haven’t been following IPL at all. as u said, with all the drama, it just doesn’t feel like cricket. And with Nayan no longer the brand ambassador for Chennai Kings, there’s one less reason to follow it 🙂

  5. Haven’t followed cricket for few years now, but sure it has its craze. But can’t miss the talks in any desi gathering 🙂 tsk tsk 🙂
