A day in Cabo San Lucas

Our cruise ship docked in Cabo San Lucas for a day. Husband, mom and father in law went for Whale watching. Pretty expensive but they had a good time. They were totally sun burnt and tired but very excited at the end of it. They saw loads of whales and dolphins. The rest of us including the children came to the port with the help of tender boats as Cabo San Lucas is a soft port. Hired ourselves a private glass bottom boat and toured the ocean, saw beautiful fish, lot of sea lions, rock formations, crabs and came back to the shore. We had loads of fun for the 100USD we paid for the 12 of us total. After that Boo‘s Hd and my BIL went on parasailing. They were mighty pleased with their parasailing experience they kept on bragging about it. After lunch, husband and I got into the excitement and wanted to go for parasailing. Mom, dad, FIL and surprisingly MIL also decided to join us for parasailing. We went tandem. Husband and my mom, my MIL and I, FIL and dad. It was major fun. My mom had the time of her life. Whale watching in the morning, parasailing in the evening. We had to be back to the ship by 4pm and we were parasailing until 3:45 pm. Hurried back to the tender boat to join with the rest of the gang who had gone to the beaches to enjoy. Overall it was great fun seeing the oldies enjoy parasailing. Boo’s Hd doesn’t brag about his parasailing any more thanks to the oldies. Now I guess Boo’s Hd must bungee jump to top the oldies’ achievements.

10th Wedding Anniversary Family Reunion

Husband and I celebrated our 10 th wedding anniversary this month. We had a gala family reunion with my parents, his parents, his siblings and family, my sibling and family. We all went on a cruise. It was major fun.

But the planning was tiresome. The initial plan was to celebrate it in India with both the parents. The parents in law had to visit brother in law in the US, so decided to celebrate it in the US. Then had to convince my sister Boo and her hd to visit from Switzerland and my parents from India. Then started the venue planning. Initial thought was cruise as this will be fun for everyone. But then visa isssue crept up. And my passport was at the verge of expiring. So canned the cruise idea and decided to rent a luxury house in Florida by the beach and laze around. One of the sibling had already visited Florida and was not so keen. We almost ditched that sibling and decided on Florida when the husband found this cruise to Mexico which might not require visa. After frantic calls to all the consulate, travel agent found out that we don’t need visa as long as we have multiple entry US visa on us. After another call to parents, siblings decided on the tour date from Feb 28 through March 3rd 2008. Suddenly one of the siblings dropped the bombshell on the day of booking that they have to check with the immigration before booking. So we ditched that sibling and booked the tickets. After major praying by my mil, the sibling’s immigration issue got resolved and got her tickets booked as well.

Then I started praying that everyone should arrive at the right time for the cruise as the inlaws were all coming from snow country. Gods were summoned to keep the little ones hale and healthy for this trip. All the Gods out there should really love us, everyone was in the pink of their health. We all reached the harbor on time to board the gorgeous ship. Had great 4 days and came back home happy.

Couldn’t have asked for more for this anniversary!

Some conversation while planning this:

Me: I am tired of arranging this reunion. So many logistics.

Hus: Oh.. you can do it!

Me: Come on! What is the big deal anyway? What is there to celebrate?

Hus: It is our 10th anniversary!

Me: So?

Hus: Isn’t that a big deal?

Me: Give me one reason why we should celebrate this!

Hus: The fact that we lived under the same roof for 10 years and didn’t kill each other yet!

Me: You win! Can’t argue with that! Let me go and make the arrangements!

Hus(thinking):Finally! I can go back to my games while she kills herself making the arrangemens!
