Sun TV screened Sakalakala Vallavan starring Kamalhassan, Ambica last week. Have watched this movie a couple of times before. More than the movie, the songs of the movie are the one that attracts me. So decided to watch this movie again just for the songs. My favourites are Nethu raathiri amma and Nila Kaayudhu! SPB and S.Janaki have done a wonderful job! And until today I was under the impression that Nila Kayudhu was song by Malaysia. SPB has totally changed his voice for that song. Wow. Hm.. Learn something new everyday! More than that these songs bring nostalgic memories of my college hostel days! Anyway, back to the point (Yes! I do have a point!). When they screened the Nila Kayudhu song, Sun TV censored the moaning sequence of S.Janaki in that song. Appaently they thing it is not appropriate. What the hell! They screen all kinds of songs where Namitha and the likes go crazy, but this small sequence in that song was offending to them. Go figure!

WHAT!!!! Its SPB???? No way, woman! I ve been listening to this song for 2 decades thinking its Malaysia Vasudevan. Just listened to it now after your post and cant believe its SPB. Theres no trace of his voice at all. You sure? Any link as to why he modulated his voice so much? Its spooky!!

chance illa.. Nila Kaayuthu is simply Malaysia Vasudevan. The voice is so unmistakably his. But yes.. it is stated as SPB in both raaga and musicindiaonline… probably a mistake?

I know about this song. I heard a million times still cannot believe it is SPB. I googled for this song and all links point to SPB. There is also a discussion thread in tfmpage about SPB and S Janaki improvised this moaning sequence. But I still can’t believe it! Maybe need to send a mail to SPB and check it out!

YY, I too did the same.. googled like anything and felt so disappointed that everywhere it was mentioned SPB.. I still can’t bring myself to believe it.
btw.. aahaafm.com is too good. It has been a couple of weeks since I went to it, but some of the programs like Rajangam (jus ilayaraja’s songs where bhavatharini hosts and talks abt some of his hits and also has guests come and talk abt their fav songs. and sometimes she has ppl part of his troupe on the show.. so the entire program would deal with songs where a particular instrument is used), a comedy time (hosted by harish ragavendra), kaapi club (with chinmayi) etc.. try it if u have the time!

One fine sunday(before the baby happened), we were watching Jayam and there was a scene where the villian pushes his lady servant into her home, removes his shirt and then removes her saree pallu..it was an ugly scene….I was wondering what happens in households where families watch sunday movies with their kids??? Do they resort to old trick of changing channels immediately??? I am sure before the channel can be changed, the scene would have got stuck in kids’ mind….
